Coinage -

Copper, Silver, and Gold are modern currencies currently in use in most nations. Each has a colloquial name, and their material is a generic term. Because the world’s economy is relatively stable, currencies are accepted widely – at least for now.

Dwarven:

  • Copper – Gusil. Stamped with an anvil on one side and a pair of crossed swords on the other.
  • Silver – Ral. Stamped with an anvil on one side and a shield on the other.
  • Gold – Limul. Stamped with an anvil on one side and a pair of crossed warhammers on the other.
  • Adamantite – Kadrel. A dwarven currency, still in rare use. Stamped with an anvil on one side and a pair of crossed axes on the other.

Forste Verden:

  • Copper – Rods. No heads or tails. It is a simple, undecorated copper bar, about 3" long and 1/4" thick.
  • Silver – Discs. An undecorated plate of silver about 1" in diameter and 1/8th" thick.
  • Gold – Blocks. An undecorated bar of gold, about 1.5" long, 1" wide, and 1/8th" thick.
  • Iron – Bars. A bar of iron about 4" long and 3/4" thick. Completely undecorated. Valued higher despite it being less rare, because iron is more useful to the average Verden – precious metals are purely used for decorative purposes, where as iron is a plow, armor, a weapon, tools, etc.

Fragrantia:

  • Copper – Denar. Heads: The head of Leonido Bonifatius Salvio (artists rendition.) Tails: The motto, “Peace begets peace.”
  • Silver – Solida. Heads: The head of Gallio Salvius Leonidus. Tails: The motto, “Each day is a gift.”
  • Gold – Libra. Heads: The head of Gallo Salvius Salvio. Tails: The motto, “Time waits for no one.”

Imsephotep:

  • Copper – Rings. Heads: The head of Pharaoh Amunhikhosef. Tails: The royal seal.
  • Silver – Discs. Heads: The head of Pharaoh Amunhikhosef. Tails: The royal seal.
  • Gold – Bars. Heads: The head of Pharaoh Amunhikhosef. Tails: The royal seal.
  • Orichlem – Regal. Heads: The head of Pharaoh Amunhikhosef. Tails: The royal seal.

Khyl Rudon:

  • Copper: Caele. The tree of life on one side, the Fairy Blossom on the other.
  • Silver – Telepse. The tree of life on one side, the Fairy Blossom on the other.
  • Gold – Laurë. The tree of life on one side, the Fairy Blossom on the other.
  • Mithril – Tolar. The tree of life on one side, the Fairy Blossom on the other.

Oublia:

  • Copper – Grains. Heads: Each province mints their own coins with the Marquis’ head. Tails: A sheaf of wheat, hence the name.
  • Silver – Crescents. Heads: Each province mints their own coins with the Marquis’ head. Tails: A crescent moon, hence the name.
  • Gold – Bucks. Heads: Each province mints their own coins with the Marquis’ head. Tails: A large forest deer, hence the name.

Riena:

  • Copper – Pence. Heads: The head of Cesaria Carmen Milarda Correia-Santiago. Tails: A heart symbol with the motto, “Liberty for all.”
  • Silver – Shilling. Heads: The head of Cesare Hugo Torres Vasconselos-Salvatore. Tails: A heart symbol with the motto, “Liberty for all.”
  • Gold – Crowns. Heads: The head of Cesaria Bernadette Araujo Vasconselos-Corriea. Tails: A heart symbol with the motto, “Liberty for all.”

Serebra:

  • Copper – Kopek. Heads: The head of Tzarina Irina Pyotrova Vremnia. Tails: The royal seal.
  • Silver – Deskopek. Heads: The head of Casillidrien, wizard of fame. Tails: The royal seal.
  • Gold – Decikopek. Heads: The head of Tsar Pyotr Leonidovich Miloradov. Tails: The royal seal.

Volkstaadt:

  • Copper – Cent. Heads: An open book with a burning torch. Tails: The Volkstaatian parliamentary building with the motto, “United we stand.”
  • Silver – Deca. Heads: The head of Frederick Marquardt, a famous philospher. Tails: The Tomb of the Burning Queen with the motto, “Remember the past, or be doomed to repeat it.”
  • Gold – Ano. Heads: Symbol of the Ottimizzarian Order. Tails: The Volkstaadt seal.

Other Currencies:

  • Chromium is a deprecated currency of the Muphate people, found in Urosan ruins and known as Talons due to their shape and bird talon stamped on one side.
  • Tellon is the depricated currency of the Ahec people, found in ruins in southern Oweth & Abari. It is exceptionally rare. The coin is known as the Xau.
  • Shards are the currency of the Underdark. Black obsidian shards about 3" long and 1" around (about the size of a Human adult woman’s index finger.) While the trade of some precious metals and stones is also accepted in the larger cities, shards are the primary currency due to the trade agreement between drow and duergar, which is conducted in shards as a standard currency. This led to the shard being a widely-recognized and transported for of current in the night below. One shard is worth 10gp due to the strong economy (because of the inherent danger) in the Underdark.
  • Shells are the primary currency of the aquatic peoples on the world. While at some point in the distant past literal shells were used as trade, the term now applies to a fiat currency of indeterminate origin made of a disk made of mother of pearl with a clam motif on each side. One shell is worth roughly 1gp.

Metals -

  • Adamantine – The dwarves used Adamantite coinage, but also used the metal for tools, weapons, armor, and even some construction purposes. In those items, it is known to be exceptionally strong.
  • Alchemical Silver – Also known as quick silver, this is a liquid metal. It is often bottled up so that weapons can be coated to fight lycanthropes.
  • Arandur- A silver-blue with green shine; It is a gnomish metal created through metalurgy and the blood of red or blue dragon. Tinkergnomes have original parts made of this metal, making replacement parts very obvious as they are generally made from simple steel.
  • Astral Driftmetal – The silver-like metal the Gith utilize to make their famous swords.
  • Aururum – A copper-soft metal developed by dwarves. The pieces meld back together and repair themselves, if broken. Unfortunately it is far too soft to use for tools, weapons, or armor.
  • Baatorian Banesteel – A green metal rarely encountered. It’s origin is not fully known, but it has a reputation for being associated with devilish powers.
  • Beau-Pierre Steel – Violet/indigo sheen. Found in weapons left behind by the Beau-Pierre peoples.
  • Blood glass – A volcanic crimson-hinted obsidian, which is created when a volcano erupts directly after a virgin has been sacrificed within it.
  • Calomel – Pale gray metal, hard white ore. Grants DR to fire damage.
  • Celestial glowsteel – A bluish glowing metal rarely encountered. It’s origin is not fully known, but it has a reputation for being associated with celestial powers.
  • Dlarun – Bone-white ivory with green sheen; halfling material created and used exclusively byt he wild Ghostwise halflings.
  • Gehennan Morghuth Iron – A orangish metal that is highly toxic. If used in a weapon, it is considered a poisoned weapon.
  • Godsteel – A dwarvish creation with a dark lustrus grey appearance. Possibly the best metal in the known world for the making of arms and armor, but exceptionally rare. It’s manufacturing process was lost to the ages during the early wars between the dwarves and orcs.
  • Mithril – Traditional elf material – exceptionally strong for its light weight.
  • Orichalcum – In it’s natural state, it is a yellowish sandy metal. When refined it can be turned into Orichlem or Orichalcum, a red copper-gold metal, through various alchemical processes. Tends to be stronger and better for tools, arms, and armor than Orichlem.

  • Pearl Steel – A pearlescent metal which, despite it’s name, is not magnetic, and does not respond to heat as traditional metals.
  • Starmetal – Mined from meteorites. Known for holding an incredible edge, but potentially being brittle.
  • Tanar’ri Bloodsteel – A reddish metal rarely encountered. It’s origin is not fully known, but it has a reputation for being associated with demonic powers.
  • Targath – Soft metal that when carried helps the bearer resist disease
